Transform a traditional office space into a Personal Training Facility

When clients Absolute Body Solutions came to us at Studio Tashkeel Architecture, they wanted help to transform a traditional office space into a Personal Training Facility. This would be their first facility outside of their hometown of Liverpool and needed to put ABS on the map in Manchester.
The process
The location, in the bustling centre of Manchester, had been previously used as an office which presented STA with various issues when planning how to make best use of the space, making sure that it was technically capable of a function that it wasn’t originally designed for.
When designing the new interior, STA worked closely with the Acousticians to create a space that meant that the noise from the surrounding businesses did not hinder the atmosphere of the training facility and vice-versa.
STA took full control of the change of use planning application, and once it was granted, project managed the full fit-out of the new facility. This included the full gym floor, new shower and changing facilities plus an office space and kitchen area. The 4 week fit-out was subcontracted but fully project managed by STA.
The client brief guided the interior design, in order to bring a consistent aesthetic to their business, complementing their two other facilities in Liverpool. The facility was designed to be as clean, crisp and clinical as possible, bringing a sense of calm and focus for the clients who were to use the facilities. Colour was muted, soothing white, blues and greys were used, and lighting was designed to compliment this aesthetic.
